21st Century Burn

21ST CENTURY BURN

Oh, pulsing electron, come take our eyes away,

For we, the enslaved, dance within your space,

We spin and diminish as you push your brothers afore,

For thrum and tumble, wire and soulless,

Come fill us with warmth and live,

Escape in a single direction,

Pass and pass, then hit and pass,

Oh, burning electronic, does thee have awareness,

Of power, of sunshine, of heat, of light,

Of live and alive, of beholding our souls,

And you, the soulless, the instructed instructor,

Creator, destroyer,

Can you sense us as we can sense you?

Oh, come from the sky, come burneth the air,

Come warm the lake water, come dry the saturated land,

Let luck and influence paint our surrounds,

Let supreme power fill it with sound,

For collapse and construct, we are too soulless,

Come give us eight days and eternal life,

And retreat in each available direction,

And pale away like the juice of a grape,

Oh, pierced and wholly unknowing resource,

Oh, punctured and deadened multiverse,

Of question and query from our trapp’d souls,

Of authorities and authors, dead and cold,

We fight you, we demand just one spark,

We request a defence and an army of harm,

A sole pulse for our sins, we insist on a win,

A word, a remark, a single kind gesture,

Come rain, come shine, come work and unite,

And gratitude fades as a bonus forgot,

Platitudes wane, dry earth starts to rot,

Destroyer, creator,

Senseless defector,

One and alone, with no microscope,

You are nothing but a scratch,

A trip to a medic,

A need for a tincture, an invented infection,

And our homes and our spaces, enslaved by you,

One and alone, you push on through.
